30 Day Song Challenge: #6 A Song That Reminds You Of Somewhere

"Vogue" will always remind me of dances held in our high school's cafeteria. Of arriving a bit late, hearing the song come on from the parking lot and rushing to the dance floor. Thank you, Madonna, for making a still-semi-closeted teen living in BonJovi-town (Sayreville, NJ) feel like he was kind-a slick.

30 Day Song Challenge: #5 A Song That Reminds You Of Someone

"Batdance"might not be the finest example of Prince's musical brilliance, but this guilty pleasure will always take me back to high school and sitting in my car with my bff Melissa (the only other Prince freak in our school) waiting for its radio premiere.

We might have been a few minutes late for class that day.

30 Day Song Challenge (Days 1-3)

If you're on facebook, check out the 30 Day Song Challenge group.
I began mine last week, but have decided to post them on my blog as well.

Day 1: Your Favorite Song

Day 2: Least Favorite Song

Day 3: A Song That Makes You Happy

Easter Weekend Gardening

Easter weekend was spent out in the garden. I set up tomato cages and trellises. I put most of my seedlings in the ground. I planted cucumbers, beans, corn, tomatoes (Roma, Big Boy and Yellow Pear...21 plants in total and still have some extra seedlings in a pot), eggplant (regular and white), red peppers, green peppers, oregano, basil and cilantro. I don't think I've left anything out, though it's entirely possible.

Little broccoli blooms decided to show up this weekend. Aren't they cute?

Our first little strawberry showed up too.

While doing mowing we discovered that there is mint coming up all over where the vegetable garden was initially supposed to go (we're going to set up the pool there this summer instead).
The folk who lived here before us must have planted the mint directly in the ground and now it's spreading. I'm happy to save some in pots, but I need to find a way to get rid of it before it spreads to the rest of the yard. Any suggestions?

I also had much help from the pups:

God said, "You shouldn't smoke in front of your kids."

I might have re-phrased the title of the video, but I think it definitely gets your attention, which I can only assume was its purpose. Overall I'm just loving this guy's sentiment and attitude.
He's funny as hell too.

The effortless fierceness of Ms. Sarah Vaughan is timeless and inspiring.
My favorite singer of all...ever.

Fierce Fridays: Hot Monkeys!

Cazwell readily admits "I rap cause I can't sing". In a recent Out interview he also matter-of-factly states that his latest album holds no deep concepts beyond him rapping over music "you can dance to".

It's enough for me.

The only thing that could have made this video any better for me would be if they had all come out of a barrel (like clowns out of a car).

Damn, now I'm craving bananas.
Have a fierce weekend!
