I might double-wire them so they can be hung a few different ways.
I also think they work separately or butted against one another as a diptych.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson
I've never been a big fan (outside of a handful of songs). The closest I've ever even come to owning an MJ record was USA for Africa, yet it feels so surreal that he is no longer living. I think it is a testament to how huge a star he was that even non-fans can feel in some way affected by his passing.
Whatever side of the fence you stand on on his infamy (I myself have always been a fairly harsh critic of his behavior), there's just no denying that this is a man who changed the face of music, videos, dance, performance and fame.
He was clearly a troubled soul, yet managed to also give the world a lot of joy and I do hope he is finally at peace.

Fierce Fridays: Alright I give in!
So I did it!
I downloaded "The Fame" two days ago, after months and months of GaGa Resistance.
It ROCKS! Pop Heaven.
The songs already out are definite standouts, as are "Money Honey", "The Fame" and "Summerboy" (Fame and Summerboy are very Gwen Stefani-ish!). My current favorite is probably the funky "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich".
There really are no real fails on the album.
"Eh Eh" does feel a bit like filler and too "sweet" for La GaGa, but it's not a bad song.
Ironically, I'd pick "Boys Boys Boys" as my least favorite. LOL!
Here are the 3 things that finally won me over:
This interview pretty much sealed the deal. I miss this type of media hype. Remember the 80's??? The way she dismisses the reporter's question as ridiculous is simply
Music video for "Paparazzi". Anyone who works Crippled Glamour gets my vote!
Live at the Much Music Awards (where she appropriately thanked "God and the Gays" for the award she won):

You Better Work!
The past few days I've been working on 2 Supermodel paintings.
I recently got a call from Raw Style in Santa Monica letting me know someone had purchased (put in an order) for one.
I painted the first Supermodel about 5 years ago. At the time I was very into vintage advertisements and comics (as well as contemporary fashion) and my paintings reflected those interests. I am very grateful that this particular painting has been so popular (I've re-painted and sold it 10 times!). This is also the painting of mine RuPaul owns. But, at the risk of sounding like a snobby artist, I have also grown tired of painting the same image over and over. Especially since I no longer do much work in that style.
That said, a sale is a sale, especially in this economy, so I decided to paint two at once and have one scanned professionally. It will be the last Supermodel original available. After that one is gone I will continue to sell the image in giclee form only.
I think it's a fair compromise.
Delivering Ru's Supermodel.

Minitinis!
"Minitinis"
These guys are lil' yummy 4x6" morsels.
The sides are painted and "scribbled" on.
I think they should do well.
Prints will also be available.

Perfect Drips
Anyone who works abstractly (or enjoys abstract art) can appreciate a "good drip".
Achieving the right "drippage" can be tricky sometimes.
When I noticed the drips dirtying up (and down) the wall behind my paint/brush side tables were pretty damn nice I pinned a piece of canvas over the spot.
I don't know yet what will become of this canvas. I might finish it off as an actual painting, or cut it into small bits and make "Collage Packs" for my Etsy shop.

Remember when the cover of Rolling Stone MEANT something???
Adam Lambert Gay: This is NEWS???
I didn't see one episode of AI this year or read the article, but doesn't speculation imply there was some doubt?
Come on, one glance and I knew her knees touched her ears on the regular.

Fierce Fridays: Candy Dulfer
Last Friday we saw sax-superstar Candy Dulfer live at the Birchmere in Alexandria VA. It was an awesome night!
Next to Prince (whom she's played countless times with), she's probably the artist whose music I do the most painting to. It was a true honor to get to meet her afterward and give her one of my paintings.
Candy and Me.
Giving Candy her painting. Yay!
The hubby and Candy.
With Candy's YUMMY (did I say YUM?!) ,and extremely talented, trumpet dude, Jan Van Duikeren.
