More Va-Va's

Va-Va-Voom! Girl (Bathing Beauties) "Tanya"

Va-Va-Voom! Girl "Vanity" (Re-worked)

Now that I'm narrowing the look for the Va-Va-Voom! Girls down, I'm re-visiting some of the earlier ones and making a few changes in order to harmonize the whole bunch.

Fierce Fridays! (On a Saturday)

I'm a day behind, what can I say?

Selene Luna
Selene currently appears in VH1's The Cho Show, as Margaret Cho's confidante and personal assistant. Don't let the side-kick role fool you, this spitfire performer/actor/model has garnered her own buzz and acclaim and is now crossing over from Hollywood's underground scene. Is the mainstream world ready for her?

Fierce because:
Just look at her!
But if I have to put it into words: Larger than life (ironic isn't it?) retro-glamour (yes, with a "u"!) and inspiring/contagious confidence.

Now, if only I could get the rest of my life to be only a day behind.

Fierce Fridays!

Tabatha Coffey:
Former "Shear Genius" contestant, now star of her own Bravo series "Tabatha's Salon Takeover"

Fierce because:
She's got incredible style and can make the word "fuck" sound downright classy.

...that is all.

Vanity

I know what you're thinking...
But this Vanity has never dated a rock star.
Not even an itsy-bitsy one.
And she doesn't own a little red corvette either.

She's just a fan who gets a little carried away from time to time.

Varla

Remember that fabulous amazon supermodel Jerry Hall?
Varla kept a picture of her taped onto the mirror of her vanity all through high school. She just loved her! But who didn't?

I have no photographic proof, but I believe Varla's done a pageant or two.
Varla is from Tay-xas. She knows that her makeup is at times a bit too heavy for daytime. And she knows that sequins are not a requirement at every function. But she doesn't care. She's a heavy-makeup sequin-wearin' kinda gal!
Once or twice, Varla has been likened to a drag queen.

She loves drag queens.

Meet Betina!

She's bound to pop into this blog now and then, so now is as good a time as any to take a minute to introduce to you this self-proclaimed Superstar (aren't we all superstars after the third Martini???). Many of my forum friends have already had the pleasure, so I'll keep it short for their sake.

Betina came to live with us a little over two years ago. As best as we can determine, she was born in the mid-60's (but she refuses to reveal her age). She is very high maintenance. We never imagined just how demanding she could be when we so kindly welcomed her into our home, but I suppose a gal of a...certain age, earns that right.

Betina Facts:

Occupation: Celebrity, Retired Model and International Spy, Fashionista

Hobbies: Posing and Drinking

Favorite Movies: Mannequin, Magic

Idols: Cher, Joan Rivers (anyone with more man-made materials in their face than her)

Catch Phrases: "I'm hard.", "I should take my hand off and slap you with it!", "Where's my damn cocktail?!"

This is how Betina arrived at our last house. Please don't say anything about her "sensible" shoes. She's very sensitive about it and views them as a form of abuse committed upon her by her former house-mates (it's insensitive to use the word owners).

She will kill me for posting this !

Betina's First Christmas!

Christmas Party behavior we don't talk about.

Spring '06: We still don't know what she had to do to get those Mardi-gras beads!

Oscars 'o6 (she wasn't invited the following year, we're afraid to ask why)

Last Christmas, in the midst of an Identity Crisis!

4th of July: Red White & Drunk!
I mean Blue.

We are not insane.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Painting Music:

On today's painting playlist:
As I continue to work on the "Va-Va-Voom! Girls", I'm keepin' the fun and frivolous pop music pumpin' in the studio. Yay, GIRL POWER!!!

Madonna's latest effort might be her best since "Music". I hardly remember any songs from "American Life" and I seldom play "Confessions on a Dancefloor" because, while it's got a good sound, to me it feels like variations on the same song.
I enjoy every song in "Hard Candy" with the exception of "Incredible" which feels kinda desperate and too "young" for her.

Still Gwen's best solo effort thus far. Stylish and fun.
