Empty Plates
One of Studio 4's group projects for the Have a Heart exhibit is the "Empty Plate" installation. Each artist added text to 4 plates. On mine, I chose to write short narratives of why the plates might be empty.

On this plate, Mary Gallagher Stout and I sat across a table and had a conversation about mothers:

The plates are available for sale. They are intended for decorative/display use only.
$10 for small/$15 for large ones.

Have a Heart Group Project
Mary and I collaborate quite often, but this past week we had the chance to work together as a studio on one of the projects for the Have a Heart exhibit. It was great fun!

Gonna Fill That Kitchen!
Mary and I are hard at work on the Have a Heart Project. When not creating art for the exhibit, we are on the road, going from store to store asking for food donations. Here we are at Bottom Dollar. They contributed a $25 gift card. We were thrilled to spend it on food for the installation/drive right away!
We go food shopping with donations on a weekly basis so if you are too far to bring some non-perishables to the gallery but wish to support our initiative, you can do so through the Have a Heart donation page.

(Mostly) Junk Food Journal
Here's a sneak peek at one of the interactive pieces for the Have a Heart Project. The completed piece will be a diptych (Mary and I are creating our own simultaneously). The collage elements are made up of the packaging (wrappers, boxes, bags, etc.) that contained the (mostly) junk food we've consumed at the studio from the time we began putting together this exhibit. The pieces will become public journals onto which visitors will be able to write about their own relationships with junk food (why they eat it, why they don't, how it makes them feel...).

Elsie-Delic
My first piece for the Have a Heart show is complete.
While the exhibit will explore serious food-related topics such as hunger, health and consumption, whimsical works will also be included to maintain the tone a hopeful one.
Please remember that we are currently conducting a Food Drive to benefit Food for Others.
You can drop off your non-perishable food donations at Workhouse Studio 4 during business hours.
